We had a great first week back to school. It was exciting to see all of the new students, families and staff members! Students have been practicing how to appropriate enter the school building, walk down the halls, and enter the classrooms, and they are doing a fantastic job!

There will be no school on Monday, September 5th so everyone can celebrate the Labor Day holiday.

We will have a Fire Drill on Wednesday, September 7th. Teachers have been working with the students so they will know what to expect.

Also on Wednesday, Popcorn, pickles and jerky will be on sale after school in the courtyard,
and there will be a Girls softball game against Mesa on Wednesday at Runyon Field at 5:00 p.m. Come cheer on the Eagles!

Friday, September 9th is School Picture Day. Students will be allowed to dress up on that day but clothing must be appropriate for school. Information will be coming home for pictures.

Pickles and popcorn will be sold on Friday in the courtyard for $1.00 after school.

On Saturday, the Heroes football team takes on Skyview MS at 4:00 p.m. at Roncalli.

Please mark your calendars for our Back to School Night on Wednesday, September 14th, at 6:00 p.m.

We are in the process of organizing a GED program here at Heroes. The program would be onsite three days per week after school. We are also trying to get the fee waived for families and provide daycare. We need to find out how many parents would be interested in participating. Please give Hope Reilly a call at 549-7419 if you are interested.

6th, 7th, 8th grade girls have had the opportunity to sign up for cheerleading this past week. Tuesday, September 6th will be the last day to sign up for cheer. There will be a parent meeting on Wednesday, September 7th in the main gym at 3:45.

This is a reminder that the school day begins at 8:25 for all students. We already have students who have been tardy. Our goal is to reach 93% daily attendance this year; last year we only made 90%. We serve breakfast first thing in the morning, and we are beginning a new program called Thriving Learning Communities during our first period. Please get your children to school by 8:25 so they don’t miss out on valuable time with their teacher and classmates! Thank you for your cooperation, parents and guardians!
