Weekly Update October 23, 2016

Parents of Middle School students:  The before and after school tutoring program hours are 7:15-8:15 and 3:45-4:45 Tuesday through Thursday.  A calendar will be sent home soon with all the days of tutoring for the remainder of the year.  For after school tutoring, please be sure to pick your student up on time. In order for students to attend, the tutoring invitation must returned to Mrs. Fields.

All week we will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week and Bully Prevention Week.  Please see the school website for specific details.

Events for the week:

Monday, October 24 at 6:00 p.m.

2nd grade concert in the Auditorium:  Students should arrive no later than 5:30.  Parents, please park in back near the auditorium.  Students should wear Halloween colors (i.e., orange, black, green, purple).

Tuesday, October 25

5th Grade has won a contest and will be going to the Rawlings Library at 9:25 for a short field trip to meet a famous author and hear stories.

We encourage all students and staff to wear big, long, colorful socks outside your pants to “Sock Out Drugs,” in honor of Red Ribbon Week.

Wednesday, October 26

We encourage all students and staff to wear a red ribbon in your hair or wear a red tie
to support Red Ribbon Week.

Friday, October 28  Halloween Activities!

Students and staff may come to school dressed in their costumes, which must be 

9:00 Kdg-2nd grade Hero of the Month Assembly appropriate for school. Items not allowed are:  scary clown costumes, costumes that portray blood or gore, masks (until the elementary Halloween Parade), or costume makeup.

1:05 Middle School Costume Contest in the auditorium—2 winners per grade level will be announced

1:30  3rd-5th grade dance in the Auxiliary Gym sponsored by the Elementary School Student Council.  Admission is free, but for $1.00 you can get a glass of punch and a cookie.

Just a reminder that there will be no school on Monday, October 31st, as teachers have a workday.  Students will not be in school on Tuesday, November 1st either, as we will have Parent-Teacher Conferences from 11:00 a.m to 7:00 p.m.  Elementary conferences are scheduled with the teacher.  Middle School Conferences are held on a first-come, first-served basis. 

Regular schedule will resume on Wednesday, November 2nd as we begin our 2nd quarter of the school year.
