Heroes K-8 School

Classes Canceled

April 27, 2018

Dear parents,

We are aware of a large number of Heroes K-8 Academy teachers who are planning to join their colleagues from across the state to rally at the capitol to call for increased education funding on Friday, April 27, 2018.

All classes at Heroes will be cancelled due to a large number of teachers utilizing excused leave to participate in the “Day of Action.”

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may cause your family. We anticipate that school will resume our normal schedule on Monday. If this status changes, we will notify you as soon as possible.

Thank you for your continued support.

Weekly Update 10/8/17

posted Oct 8, 2017, 6:44 PM by Julie Shue   [ updated Oct 8, 2017, 6:46 PM ]

Good Evening Heroes Families,

This is Mrs. Shue with the Heroes Academy Weekly Update.   This week we will be focusing on what it means to be a HERO in our hallways.  Elementary students will review the expectations for walking in lines, keeping hands to ourselves and remembering proper volumes.  Middle school students will be reminded about their volume in the hallway, on the stairs, and in keeping their hands and feet to themselves, and other important aspects of being safe and acting safely at school.   In addition, middle school students will have special assemblies this week to address these concerns further.  We appreciate the support of all parents and guardians in supporting our school as we transition to new rules and expectations for our students.

Open gym for boys in 6th through 8th graders will start next week October 9 - October 13 from 3:45 - 5pm Monday through Thursday. Open gym is a great way to get some extra practice in before tryouts for boys basketball.  Boys Basketball tryouts will begin on October 18 and conclude on October 20.

There will be a special assembly for students in grades 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th on October 20th.  Students who are demonstrating good behavior in class, in the hallway, and at lunch and recess, will be eligible to attend.  We will be keeping track of those behaviors starting on Monday until October 19th.  We want as many elementary students to attend as possible!!

There will be a parent meeting on October 18, 2017 in the media center at 5 p.m.  This is a meeting in which parents can come and ask questions, meet with the principal and also get an update on what is happening at Heroes.  We hope to see parents there if possible.

Additionally, student teacher conferences will be held on November 9th.  There will be no school that day and students are encouraged to come with parents on conference day.  Elementary teachers will be sending out conference sign up sheets in the next week or so.  Please be on the lookout for this important information.

Have a wonderful week!!
